How to choose the right heater
Start with what you want to heat. If you want to feel warm where you sit, a spot heater — sun, halogen or rod — warms you in seconds on very few watts. If you want the whole room warm, choose a fan heater or an oil radiator.
Then match the room size: roughly 10 W per sq ft in a closed room for whole-room heating. A 10×12 ft bedroom (120 sq ft) needs about 1,200–1,500 W; a big lounge, 2,000 W or more.
Finally, think about your wiring and backup. Big heaters need a good wall socket; on UPS or solar, stay at 300–600 W.

02Which heater uses the least electricity?
A low-watt spot heater — a sun heater on 300 W, a 400 W handy heater or the 250 W Maxx MX-113. They warm you directly instead of heating all the air.
03Which heater is best for a bedroom?
A fan or ceramic heater with a thermostat warms a closed bedroom quickly; an oil-filled radiator gives silent, even warmth. Switch any heater off when you sleep unless it has a timer.
04Do electric heaters consume oxygen?
No. Electric heaters burn nothing, so they do not use oxygen or make carbon monoxide like gas heaters. They can make the air feel dry.
05Can I run a heater on UPS or solar?
Small heaters, yes — 300–600 W sun heaters or 400 W handy heaters. Big fan heaters and oil radiators are too heavy for most UPS systems.
06How much electricity does a 2,000 W heater use?
2 units an hour while heating. With a thermostat it switches off once the room is warm, so the real use is lower.
